Rapid Covid testing kits available later this month.
JUNEE Capital Chemist will be selling Covid home testing kits later this month, allowing for quicker and more accessible
results.
From Monday November 1, supermarkets and pharmacies in Australia were able to sell the antigen testing kits in store.
Jane Gentle, pharmacist and owner of Junee Capital Chemist, said she has ordered a shipment of the testing kits to her store, set
to arrive in November.
“We’ve placed our order which will hopefully be delivered in mid-November,” Jane said.
“There will be different pack sizes, if you need a single one, five pack, or ten pack, whether it be for workplace of personal testing.”
The COVID home testing kits are not free and will cost customers, with price ranges set to vary with brand and quantity.
“We’re not sure on retail price just yet, but it will be a great thing to have in the arsenal,” Jane continued.

The home testing kits will make it easier and quicker for people to get tested, in comparison to needing to go to a medical clinic or
hospital for a test.
“It’s a quick result and obviously if it comes back positive you can get more specific testing,” she said.
“The initial order was 50 single tests, 50 five-packs, and 10 packs of 25,” Jane explained.
“It was really hard to gauge what the interest would be like. We’d have a couple of phone calls with people asking – but we couldn’t
legally sell them until November 1 for personal use.”
The chemist will be providing two types of Covid testing kits, with Jane explaining how the kits worked.
“One is just a spit test where you’re literally spitting into a tube and the other one involves the
nasal probe,” she said.
Jane said the chemist has already had some good feedback regarding them stocking the kits.
“We’ve had a couple enquiries. We haven’t had too many questions just yet but I’m sure they’ll come,” she said.
“It will be interesting going forward. We haven’t had a Junee case in the shire but it’s going to happen.
“There’s plenty of workplaces that employers will be requiring the rapid testing.
“They work in about 15 minutes, so it’s much better than standing down in a queue or sitting in a car waiting for a test.”
There is currently stationary Covid testing sites in Junee, as well as a further trek out to Wagga, but getting the results back can
vary from hours to days depending on the influx of testing.
Junee Capital Chemist administers both the AstraZeneca and Moderna COVID vaccine.
The chemist is also about to commence the Pfizer third booster dose of the vaccine for those who
have had – six months after the
patient’s initial dose.
