“Everything you have brought to the club will be greatly missed. Thank you, Craig.”
The Senior coach ended his career with Junee soccer on a high after his team made it to the Grand Final against Hanwood, but unfortunately couldn’t secure a victory, going down 3-2.
“Thank you for all your wishes,” he said. “It’s been a wonderful part of my life, met so many great people and witnessed some great footballing talent over the years and made a lot of friends and while sad to be stepping away, I know that I can’t keep doing it forever, but so glad that I had the chance and opportunity to be involved.”
New President Matthew Stubbs gave the Independent a peek into what the Jaggies have in store for the new year.
“There’s been some major changes, we’ve got 12 people on the committee, which is the most we’ve seen in years,” he said.
“We’ve only ever carried five or seven. There’s a lot that have joined the committee.
“We’re working hard to get a men’s team; we’ve got a couple of people who have joined the committee that are going to drive the men’s soccer in the community.
“We’ve got a completely new executive committee at the club with a really different focus, looking to grow the game and have more junior teams in the Wagga competition.
“We’re looking at having a women’s first grade team again, and the men’s reserve great team, that’s going to be a focus for season 2023. “We’ve got a lot of events coming up, we’ve already been working really hard.
“We’ve just organised a gala day here on Tuesday, March 7 next year. That’ll be run by Football Wagga Wagga with the assistance of Junee High School.
“We’re planning to have an outdoor futsal tournament as our season opener. “Last year, we ran a junior clinic that ran separate to Football Wagga, it was very successful. We’re looking to do it again.
“It was such a great event. Kids have a lot of fun. There’s a lot happening.”
