Junee Lions Christmas Luncheon

On Friday December 2 the Junee Lions Club held its annual Senior Citizens Christmas luncheon. On this day we invite senior citizen from our community, including Cooinda Court residents, Lawson House residents and Age Care patients from the hospital, to come and celebrate Christmas together.

It is held at the Junee Ex-Services Club, in the Aurora Room.

This year we had about 70 guests, including our senior citizens, carers and other family members to assist on the day.

The guests were entertained by students from The St Joseph’s Primary School Choir. Who came along and sang a range of Christmas Carols.

Then there was a visit form the man of the moment – Santa Clause – who had a small gift for all those in attendance, a bag of chocolates. A big thank you to Santa, he has been attending our luncheon for many years.

He is going to retire this year and will send another helper for next years party.

Our guests were served a full Christmas lunch on the day. Prepared by our Lions members, with the ham being donated by the Junee co-op.

Once main course was over, a helping of Lions plum pudding with custard and ice cream was enjoyed by all. To help with the serving and cleaning up, we were fortunate to have some very able helpers, some keen students, from Junee High School.

Junee Lions Club would like to thank all those involved in the day, especially the carers, community volunteers, and businesses who donated goods, who make the day possible.

We look forward to seeing everyone again next year. Have a safe and happy Christmas from the Junee Lions Club.
