Coursing Park’s tennis courts and Community Centre have a new committee that are motivated to turn the park into a beacon of happiness for the community. Hoping to get tennis tournaments and community get togethers there, the new committee has already been hard at work since their AGM last week that saw a shakeup to the members.
The previous crew of Max and David Chamberlain, David Heazelwood and Jennie Burns handed over the torch after their work restoring the old clubhouse building to Alice Gwozdecky, Gillian Hayward, Taryn Gollasch and Narelle Robilliard with Max Chamberlain continuing to do work.
Alice Gwozdecky was happy to tell the Independent about the new committee.
“I live about two kilometres from the courts so I drive past them every day and my neighbours used to use it years ago. They used to use it on Sundays for tennis and playing cards at night in the clubhouse, Covid has squashed that” she said.
“I’ve only been living in the area for about for nine years and I’m a keen tennis player with young kids, we are hoping that we can use tennis courts again, including some other young families around me that I’ve become friends with.”
With consultation from previous Presidents and Vice Presidents, the committee chosen from last weeks AGM are keen to inject new life into the park.
