Junee Golf Club will enter one of their busiest times of the year, hosting both their Junee Junior Open and Junee Open later this month. New Junee Golf Club Captain Flash Jordan has taken over from the outgoing Rex Parkes, and he expects to take some time to find his feet, but he’s looking forward to helping the club during such an exciting period.
“I’m new to the game, and I’m only just getting my head around it, so we’ll get through this year and build from there,” Jordan said.
“I’ve got a little match committee there, and we’ll work towards these next few tournaments and the Riverina District Golf Association (RDGA) season and hopefully have a successful year.”
When asked why he took on the role, Jordan said someone needed to do the job.
“You can’t run a club without a Club Captain, and no one put their hand up at the AGM, so I put my hand up to take on the responsibility,” Jordan said.
“Hopefully, in the next 12 months, I get to know everyone in the club and districts, and we can get things going a little bit.”
Kicking off a big two weeks for Jordan and Junee Golf Club, the Junee Junior Open is being held on Sunday, October 15, with this event part of the RDGA Junior Series.
Entry is online, and there will also be a nine-hole Juniors on The Move (JOM) event on the same day. Those wishing to play need to be registered as a JOM member.
The Junee Open (Medley) follows on Sunday, October 22. The 18-hole competition includes green
fees, lunch, and trophies, with tee-off between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m., and the entry fee is $30 for adults and $20 for players under 18.
There will be A, B, and C-Grade scratch and Handicap, a ladies’ stableford, and nearest to the pins and a ball Comp. Limited carts are available, meaning bookings are required.
