On November 4, the iconic Junee Monster Garage Sale will be on, letting locals clear some space while others get to pick up some unique treasures all around town. Rotary puts this on annually as one of their yearly events since the community loves it. For anyone wanting to support this community event and throw a garage sale, registration closes Thursday 2nd November.
You can register at Ag n Vet in Lisgar Street. Rotary President Chris Paton invites the community to both take a gander on what’s on offer and do a bit of space clearing themselves. “It’s the same every year, we’d like to think of it as a whole town garage sale so anyone who wants to have a garage sale can register. We collect all those up and on Friday we put it all together with a map and those maps become available on Saturday morning for $2 outside the Post Office.
“It Gives people an opportunity to have a spring clean and there is a bit of interest in it already. It’s not too hard for us to put it on. People are asking when it’s on. “We hope it is a successful day as it has been in the past.” Whole town garage sales are popular events in the community with Junee’s neighbours Coolamon holding their own flavour of town garage sales on Saturday. To whet your appetite for the unique things people have lying around the house, you can grab a map at the Up-To-Date store similar to how it will be run in Junee. It’s a gem of a day for both bargain hunters and the local community.
“It supports our local community and keeps Rotary out there as part of the community and people like it. We like doing things locally,” said Mr Paton. “We have the garage sale then the markets coming up the next day. A bit later on we’ll be attending the Christmas on Broadway. “We tend to have a big [market] for December, on the first Sunday of December we do a special Christmas one. “Get in before the cut-off time. We do have to have a cut-off date on the Thursday so we can put it all together and get the maps right so if you’d like to, you’re welcome to go and register.”
It’s a garage sale bonanza in the coming weeks, so be sure to grab your map so you can see what the town has to offer.
