A night all about men’s mental health will take place at the Athenium on October 18 starting at 5pm. Speaker Mary O’Brien will discuss mental health in rural communities and suicide in rural and remote areas.

Sam Perry of Junee Council is happy to see the importance of men’s mental health being discussed within the community.

“Excitement is building in Junee as the date draws near for a special event that promises to be a great benefit to the community. The renowned and beloved Mary O’Brien is set to grace Junee with her presence as she delivers her empowering presentation, ‘Are You Bogged Mate,’” He said.

“Organised by the Junee Shire Council in collaboration with the Junee Community Centre, this event is poised to be a pivotal moment for the town and a significant step towards promoting men’s health
awareness and well-being.

“Mary O’Brien, a celebrated figure in Australia, is known for her work in rural communities, advocating for better mental health support for men. Her ‘Are You Bogged Mate’ presentation has resonated with audiences across the nation, addressing the unique challenges faced by men in regional areas.

With a blend of humour, empathy, and genuine concern, O’Brien has been instrumental in breaking down the stigma surrounding mental health issues, particularly in rural settings.

“The Junee Shire Council’s decision to bring Mary O’Brien to town reflects the town’s commitment to fostering health and well-being within the community, especially among its male residents. The Men’s Health Night is a testament to their dedication to providing resources, support, and a platform for discussing issues that have often been overlooked or stigmatised.

“Junee Community Centre, a hub for community development and support services, has played a pivotal role in organising this event. Their collaboration with the Council demonstrates the power of community partnerships in driving positive change.

“The ‘Are You Bogged Mate’ presentation is expected to draw a diverse audience, from young men to seniors, and from all walks of life. O’Brien’s ability to connect with her audience on a personal level has made her a trusted figure in the realm of mental health advocacy.

“The event will not only feature O’Brien’s presentation but also provide an opportunity for attendees to engage in open discussions about men’s health. Information stalls, resources, and local support services will be available on the night, ensuring that those who need assistance can easily access it.

“As the date of the Men’s Health Night approaches, the anticipation in Junee continues to grow. With Mary O’Brien at the helm and the unwavering support of the Junee Shire Council and Junee Community Centre, this event promises to be a significant milestone in the ongoing effort to prioritise men’s mental
