Wantabadgery trainer Rodger Waters will target Saturday’s meeting at Tumut, with Georgie’s Mantra and Mo Cent entered to race on the six-race non-TAB program. Mo Cent is a debutant, entered in the 1000m Maiden Plate, and Waters also has the three-year-old entered at Wagga for a 1000m Maiden Handicap on Friday.
The Akeed Mofeed gelding has had four trials, with three of those for Peter Maher at Wodonga, Ballina, and Wangaratta. Most recently, Waters trialled Mo Cent at Wagga on October 23 where he finished second, beaten just shy of a length by Baggage Handler over 1000m. Georgie’s Mantra will go around in the 1400m Benchmark 50 Handicap and should appreciate the drop in class. The five-year-old won her maiden at Wagga back in April, and is three runs into her current prep.
Hart claims Trotters Cup and lands Menangle treble
Junee product and Australia’s leading reinsman Cam Hart continued his hot run at Menangle on Sunday, winning three races on the program, including the $25,000 Menangle Park Trotters Cup and $50,000 NSW Breeders Challenge 4YO final for entires and geldings.
The Trotters Cup (1609m) was the opening event on the program, and driving for Jarrod Alchin, it was an easy win for Hart, who guided the seven-year-old Doff Your Cap ($3.40) to a 5.4-metre win.
In the NSW Breeders Challenge 4YO final (1609m) for entires and geldings, Hart again drove for Alchin and won by the best part of 20 metres with My Ultimate Ronnie ($1.06). Bringing up his treble, Hart drove the Jason Grimson-trained Swayzee ($1.25), which won by ten metres in the $50,000 free-for-all (2400m).
With another win on the David Waite-trained Clementsorrel ($12) in the NR up to 50 (1710m) at Goulburn on Monday, Hart has edged closer to 1000 career wins and now sits on 964 and an incredible 188 for the season. Cam’s older sister and talented reinswoman, Ash Hart, was also in the winner’s circle last week, landing another win at Penrith.
Driving for Freddy Taiba, Hart won with Sweet Miracle ($1,45) in the NR up to 50 (1720m). Ash has five drives at Penrith tonight and is in the gig for Sweet Miracle again in the NR up to 48 pace (1720m) while she teams up with fellow Junee product Chris Judd when driving Gracie Taltoa in the NR up to 53 pace (2125m).
White and McRae score at Albury and Wagga
The Trevor White and Pete McRae combination paid dividends at Albury on Tuesday, October 24, and Wagga on Friday,
October 27. At Albury, White drove Hes A Terror ($4.60) to a good win in the NR up to 50 pace (1770m). Prior to that result, McRae won on the Stewart Richards-trained Yoo Trish ($8) in the NR up to 50 pace (1770m). At Wagga, White and McRae won with Betterthantheboyz ($26), which was a big-priced winner in the NR up to 48 pace (1740m). McRae also had a strong book of drives at Leeton on Tuesday, and the Independent will follow up on those results next week.
