The 133rd Junee Show held at the Junee Showgrounds on Saturday, was a big hit in town, celebrating the community and the 60th annual Young Woman of the Year award, giving locals a fun day out in the sun.
The Junee community showed a great amount of support for the day, filling seats on rides and purchasing local goods while having fun in the sun. The Junee Show Society expressed their gratitude for the turn out and the support locals gave them this year and each and every year. The show was opened at 2:30pm where the Young Woman of the Year was announced, which was won by Olivia Hodgkin.
After a short break, the committee will start planning on the next Show in 2024 which will mark the 134th annual show, proving the amount of work that goes into an event like this. Mark your calendars now for another great day out with the family.

Aimee Markham said the Show had a phenomenal turn out from the local community, making it the biggest turn out they’ve ever had with ACT fire- works a particular highlight.
She said, “It was very successful this year. We had a very big turnout, which was Aimee said that there were so many people there, she couldn’t count the number of people that showed up.
“The comedy duck races had great crowds every time they showed a race and you could hear them from a mile away. People were really enjoying those particular races. The Bluey mascot we had walking around was a fan favourite. We had everyone from little kids to adults enjoying taking photos with Bluey. Bluey even managed to climb aboard a very quiet horse who obliged the cartoon character while she made her way around the grounds.
“From the feedback I’ve received, the fireworks display was well received. People loved it. It’s a bit of a fan favourite every year.” Brooke Harris was the 2022 Young Woman of the Year recipient and she passed on the mantle to Olivia Hodgkin who was awarded the 2023 award. Runner ups were Jacqueline Timms and Maycy Scott. “[Olivia] is studying to be a vet. She grew up in rural Victoria.
“We just would love to thank the community for coming out and enjoying the day. Anyone who wants to join the committee, we love new volunteers joining, we’d be more than happy for people to join and if anyone has any feedback, we love feedback, whether it’s good or bad.” The day was closed with fireworks, a fitting end for a spectacular day. Committee member Patrya Cook said, “The fireworks display was the biggest one yet and was bigger than Sydney Harbour on New Years Eve.”
