Christmas on Broadway Returns in Full Force After Wet 2022

The Christmas on Broadway event always brightens up the community which was an understatement for last Saturday’s celebration which returned after a damp 2022. Junee Business and Trades and their army of keen volunteers did an amazing job providing stalls, entertainment, galleries and attractions to kick off the festive season.

Tony Butt, President of the committee, said, “It went very well. The market stall holders were happy with the day, they said they had a good day. We had a lot of things for the kids to do and amusement rides.

“We had Deja Groove as our host band and the school kids were singing and dancing earlier in the day. Santa Clause came like he always does and we had an art display at the Athenium.

“They also had photography at the Athenium and a colouring in competition for the kids. We had show bags for sale.”

Mr Butt wanted to give thanks to the sponsors supporting Junee which are Junee District Co-Operative, Commins Hendricks, Karuah Pty Ltd, Hart and Bray Accountants, Whiles Electrical, Karen Allamby Photography, Junee Newsagency, Railway Café, Raulston Family Homes, Riv Turf, Total Bliss, Storehouse Botanica, Junee Bobcat and Landscaping, Advanced Plumbing and Roofing, MPF Engineering, Soiree, Jeffreys Paintings and Brew at 102.

“We had lots of really good sponsors and local businesses supporting other local businesses. We had 20 prizes of $250 to be spent in town which was donated by the business and trades people in town.

“The whole day went pretty well.”

It contrasts with last year’s event that came off the back of unforeseen flash flooding. Even despite the dreariness, the community still came to support the day just like they have again this year.

Tony continued, “The weather was a lot kinder this year and a lot more people turned out which was good.

“The lighting of the Christmas tree is our finale which is what it all builds up to, lighting the tree and kicking the festive season off.

“Thanks all local business and trades people for sponsoring and helping us out and the volunteers that put it together. Thanks to the Junee Business and Trades committee for all their hard work throughout the year getting it organised. Junee District Co-op was our major sponsor that contributed a lot as well as the General Manager helping us out with the committee side of things.”

We’re still in November yet Santa is already looking to be in high spirits, and how could he not be with magnificent events like this.
