Remembrance Day Setting Stage for Sombre Service

Remembrance Day is a solemn day for many around the Riverina, and it will be no different at the Cenotaph starting 11:00am sharp on November 11with Junee RSL Sub-Branches’ Service.

The Junee RSL Sub-Branch wishes to advise that there will be some changes to the service.

The Minute’s Silence observed at 11:00am is often held towards the end of the Service.

This year they will be opening the service with The Minute’s Silence at 11:00am sharp.

Junee RSL ask all attendees to the Junee Remembrance Day Service to assemble near the Junee Cenotaph on the Athenium Theatre side of Broadway (which shall be closed to traffic).

They also ask that you gather at the Junee Cenotaph before 10:45am.

Junee RSL Sub-Branch President, Greg Zakharoff, said things are going well with the preparations for Remembrance Day.

“Guest speakers will be Major Dennis Weston from the Australian Defence Force and our secondary speaker is Mark Cooke who is president of Junee Legacy,” he said.

“They will give a talk and we will also have a catafalque party and we will be introducing a few things that haven’t been introduced before in Junee and it will put a bit of variety in the services.

“We hope the weather will be kind to us.”

Big things are already in the works for ANZAC Day so keep an eye on this space as the next year rolls in.
