Junee Pacers Cup Back in Town, Better Than Ever

The juniors going at it on Race Day.

After a year being held in Wagga, the Junee Pacers Cup has returned to town and the committee are absolutely thrilled with the turnout and support they received. This year also saw a speed shear contest held.

What made the day even better was that the Pacers Cup stayed in Junee with Bruce Harpley and Dashing crossing the finish line first.

A close win on the day.

Laura Diebert, Secretary of Junee Harness Racing Club wanted to give a huge thank you to their sponsors, committee and volunteers who helped make the event what is was.

“The event was great. We had a huge crowd which was great to see. The event was supported by the community considering we weren’t racing last year as we moved to Wagga last year,” she said.

“It was moved to Wagga last year as we couldn’t reach an agreement with the Trust, but that has all been finalised now and we are all happy to be back.

“It was so good to see everybody back for 2025.

“It was the inaugural speed shear and we had about 63 shearers in the end that came across for the quick shear and it was a real buzz. Everybody was so excited to see that.

“We are planning that next year.

“I think it’s back bigger and better this year. It has created a real buzz around town and it has really lifted our spirits too to see how well we were supported.

“We are very excited for the years to come.

“I’d say there was easily over 500 people there.

“There was no real room on the grass. You had to be there really early to get a seat.

“It was great to see Bruce Harpley finally win the Cup with Dashing. I know it has been on Bruce’s bucket list for a long time and to see the Harpley name now on the cup is so good considering what the family have done for the Trotting Club over the years.

“The Pacers Cup returns to its home.”
