The Riverina Schoolboys Football Carnival Committee held their AGM last Thursday evening with a positive outcome. David Holt was elected President (by secret ballot) while Maree Allamby and Chris Paton will continue as Secretary and Treasurer, respectively.
Planning is now underway for the 80th Carnival which will continue to take place over the next few months before invitations can be sent to football clubs. 143 teams competed in the 2024 carnival, resulting in over 200 games of junior rugby league with over 50 referees officiating throughout the day.

This year, Under 16’s teams have been relegated back to the Junior League and these games will need to be included in the carnival. With the growth of Girl’s Tackle, the question has been raised regarding the inclusion of these teams at the carnival. Discussion will be held on the feasibility of including them, however, we could be restricted due to ground capacity availability.
We are fortunate to have well maintained facilities at Laurie Daley Oval, Loftus Oval and Burns Park as well as the use of the Showground and the committee appreciate being able to use these facilities each year for the carnival.

With this being the 80th carnival, anyone with any memorabilia, old pennants with recipients or photos that they would like to share with the committee, Lola Cummins is preparing a booklet and information can be either emailed to riverina.schoolboys.carnival@gmail.com or sent to the Riverina Schoolboys Facebook page.
The next meeting will be held on Thursday, 20 March at 6:30pm at the Junee Ex-Services Memorial Club.
Anyone who would like to join the committee and assist with planning are welcome to attend.
