Greg Zakharoff.
April 25 is quickly approaching, but the Junee RSL Sub-Branch are always prepared when Anzac Day comes to make sure their service goes as smoothly as it can.
Greg Zakharoff, President of the RSL Sub-Branch said it was a very special year this time around.
“This year is a special year as it’s the 110th Anniversary of the landing. Our service has changed dramatically as we are doing a few different things in Junee as we are acknowledging the 108 Australians that died in the First World War. It’s a once off, it’s never been done before,” he said.

“We have a Senior Officer from the New Zealand Defence Force who is going to be with us, Lieutenant Colonel Swayer; the Deputy Mayor will speak along with a guest speaker.
“It will be an experience, and in some cases, some people might find it a bit emotional.
“Children from both the High School and St. Josephs will be participating in the service.
“People who want to lay a wreath should let us know as soon as possible.
“The Junee and Cootamundra Town Bands will be playing this year.
“We try to get the school kids involved as much as we can as it’s all part of their heritage.”
More information to come on the service as it approaches.
