Junee Can Assist’s Ladies Long Lunch will once again brighten the month of July on the 27th at the Junee Showgrounds from 12:00pm where they will once again raise money for the local charity and put on a day of glamour and fun.
Alicia White of CanAssist said that everything was going well as the date approaches.
“It’s nice to see people when I’m down the street getting excited for the event. We have Michelle Seymour catering again this year, and we have MaybeMabel, which is a mobile bar where they’ll be serving our drinks for the day.
“We have Aaron Oldaker from Wagga performing live at the event. We have some guest speakers including four young girls who will be speaking about their experience being a carer for someone with a health challenge and sharing their journey in their role as a family member.
“We also have Annette Sinclair, who runs the Melanoma Institute and she will be talking about her daughter Amy Sinclair and what it’s like as a mother caring for someone going through a health challenge.
“Our event this year is focussed around ways to support people going through health challenges how people can help and what it feels like to be a carer through those tough times.
“We have many great brands supporting us again this year with 30 raffle items, and eight silent auction items, including amazing weekends away, artwork and photography sessions.
“Each person will be given a take-home event gift bag and gift.
“We are looking at having similar numbers to previous years, about 120 to 125 people.”The Long Lunch has become more of a regular thing Can Assist does every second year.
“It’s got the same buzz about it. People are excited because we have had a year off. We’re looking at doing the event every two years. We understand the cost of living for attendees, as well as people that support the event and by spacing it out to every two years we can afford to continue to have the event going forward. It’s got a great buzz, when I’m out and about, people are very excited that they’ll be buying their tickets and they’re looking forward to a great afternoon with their friends and family.
“I’m fortunate enough to have 12 family members from the South Coast up to the Northern rivers travelling across to the event. I’m very excited to have some close family members be able to attend this year they’re wanting to come because they think it’s such a great afternoon and they’re proud that the money goes back into the Junee community.
“We are supporting Can Assist again this year and all our money raised local stays local.”
