Junee Shire Council said they are commencing simultaneous infrastructure works on Regent Street (between Kanaley Square and Duke Street) and on Kanaley Square, which has been affected by heavy rain.
Council listed the following works to be ongoing:
• Regent Street: Stormwater drainage reconstruction
• Kanaley Square: Sewer main reconstruction
Council said, “[We] appreciate your patience and cooperation during these critical works, which will improve essential stormwater and sewer infrastructure for the Junee community.”
However, due to forecast severe weather, the planned detour and southbound lane closure at Kanaley Square was delayed until conditions improve.
The Regent Street stormwater works still commenced as scheduled, but no major traffic closures are expected during this period.
Council said to check Variable Messages Boards and local signage for updates on when the major detour will be in place.
Council said they will provide further notice once weather conditions allow the closure and related works to proceed.
Passive traffic control signage is installed between Duke Street and Park Lane.
Once the Kanaley Square works are completed, the traffic control setup will be reduced to only restrict the active Regent Street stormwater project area, minimising disruption to local traffic, according to Council.
Council also noted residents that culvert replacement works on the Olympic Highway between Bethungra and Cootamundra will commence the week starting 4th August. If the weather allows, work is expected to take four weeks.
Council said traffic control will be in place to direct road users where applicable.
Minor traffic delays will occur during the roadworks.
