On September 13, Junee Shire Council is inviting the community to Railway Square for an event dubbed ‘Fire on the Railway’ from 6:00pm.
The event will feature glowing fire buckets, local music, friends and family gathered together, and the beginning of the beloved Canola Trail.
Junee Shire Council said Fire on the Rail is a night of community, culture, and celebration.
“This family-friendly evening is the official launch of the Canola Trail under the stars, proudly presented with Junee Shire Council,” they said.
“Expect live entertainment, a licensed bar, and the magic of our town under a golden sky. Don’t miss this kick-off to an unforgettable Canola Trail journey.”
The event is a special collaboration between The Railway Café, Junee Shire Council and The Canola Trail. It will be free entry.
The Canola Trail is a collaborative effort between Temora, Coolamon and Junee to celebrate the golden bloom of Canola and drive tourism up in the region.
The NSW Government promotes the Canola Trail as well, saying, “Embrace the golden glow of spring on the Canola Trail, a self-drive adventure through the heart of the Riverina. Winding through fields of vibrant yellow canola, the trail invites you to explore at your own pace.
The trail unveils a series of welcoming country towns and villages, each brimming with character and gems. From the historic streets of Temora to the boutique offerings in Coolamon and the nostalgic delights of Junee, the Canola Trail is a celebration of rural life and vibrant communities.
Take your taste buds on an adventure at Coolamon Cheese Co, a working artisan cheese factory where you can watch the cheesemakers in action, enjoy a platter in the café and take home your favourite wedges.
In Junee, follow the sweet scent to the Junee Licorice and Chocolate Factory, where you can indulge in treats, join a hands-on freckle-making experience, and see how licorice and chocolate are crafted.
Then take to the skies in spirit at the Temora Aviation Museum, home to some of Australia’s most treasured ex-military aircraft.
With immersive exhibits, a welcoming café and full-motion flight simulators.
Each year during August and September, the landscape transforms with a spectacular golden bloom as canola bursts into flower.
