Junee Jaguars Third Grade victors.
Junee Jaguars Blue took out the Navinkell Cup in a 3-1 victory over Junee Jaguars Yellows on Sunday, breaking a drought that lasted nearly a whole decade.
Will McGrath was named the Wagga Motors Isuzu Ute Player Of The Match. On top of that, Third Grade Junee Jags also won the Blake Trophy in a 3 – 1 victory over Henwood Park FC.
A hat-trick to Junior Hou netted him Wagga Motors Isuzu Ute Player Of The Match.
President of the Club, Will McGrath, said, “We had two grades on Friday night that played. We had the third-grade play, and then we had the fourth grade, which had the two Junee sides in the game.“We won third grade, beating Henwood Park, and then in fourth grade, Junee Blue beat Junee Yellow.
“The scores were 3-1 in each game. “I’m immensely proud of the boys. It’s been a good year, a good building year with everything that happened at the start of the year, so to be able to finish it off with a couple of premierships is really rewarding for the boys.
“Hopefully, the club is growing stronger and stronger. It often fluctuates year on year, depending on people who move in, move away, stuff like that. Winning games and winning premierships definitely help build culture, as well as the coaches maintaining their dedication to the club.
“The off-field stuff helps to build the culture just as well as on the field.
“Sticking to their game plan and having that fire in them got the team the premiership, especially in third grade with them being fresh as well, utilising our pace. We have got a lot of quick players who are good on the ball, and catching out Henwood Park’s defence was pivotal in getting the win.
“The community support throughout the season has been great. We’ve had great support down at the grounds for our home games, as well as people travelling for away games to pretty much every town, so the town has definitely backed us for the season, and it’s always good to have someone cheering on the sidelines as well.
“We’ve got our AGM coming up on the 22nd of November. If anyone is interested in coming along and having their say on how they would like the club to move forward, they are more than welcome.
“The senior presentation night is Saturday, 11th October. We get together as a senior group and celebrate the season that it has been.”
