Olivia Burton is a member of the Junee Swimming Club – one of several clubs in the Southern Inland Swimming Association (SISA) area.
Olivia recently competed at the Swimming NSW Veriu Country Short Course Championships which were held in Sydney from 10th – 12th July 2026 at SOPAC (Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre). In order to compete at this meet, swimmers must first obtain qualifying times which are set by NSW Swimming.
Olivia competed in five events over the three days in the 10 years girls age group: 100m Breaststroke, 50m Breaststroke, 50m Freestyle, 50m Butterfly and 50m Backstroke.
She received two Top 10 Finalist ribbons for her 100m Breaststroke (4th) and 50m Breaststroke (5th) events.
Olivia also recorded five personal best times for each of her swims. This was a tremendous result for Olivia as it was her first time competing at this specific state level meet and she has trained incredibly hard. Congratulations Olivia!
Olivia trains with the Junee Swimming Club each week with Head Coach, Noel Poynter, and is currently a member of the SISA Junior Development Swimming Squad which brings together swimmers from across the area who are at the top of their age groups. Olivia was selected in 2025 as well to be part of this squad.
The squads meet once a month (May-October) at the Junee Recreation and Aquatic Centre where sessions are run by a guest coach such as Noel, a coach from another NSW club or the Regional Coaching Director (Chris Myers).
It is a wonderful opportunity for swimmers to have access to these high-level coaches but to also have access to an indoor facility during the cooler months.
SISA had 55 swimmers from 11 clubs competing at this meet with 92 personal best times recorded and 108 top placings.
