The Junee Diesels will make the long trek to Albury this weekend to take on the Thunder in Round 14 of the Group 9 First Grade competition.
After back-to-back wins against Gundagai and Cootamundra, Albury will be brimming with confidence against a Diesels side that will not be short of self-belief themselves after three straight wins.
Junee claimed a 30 points to 10 victory last time the two sides played earlier this season, when Tevita Toloi announced himself as one of the competition’s star players with a hat-trick.
The Diesels will take a near full-strength line-up into Saturday’s clash as they welcome back co-coach Chase Bernard, while the fitness of Toloi and Jack Schubert will be monitored closely throughout the week with a decision made closer to game day about the availability of both.
Junee coach Damian Willis says the ingredients to success this weekend are a reasonably simple recipe.
“We have to show up with a really good attitude and then stick to our own game plan and stay connected.”
Willis also said that despite the Diesels’ strong showing thus far in 2026, they still haven’t quite been able to be consistent in their performances.
“Consistency has been a bit of a problem for us, but we keep finding a way, and we keep fighting back, which is impressive. If we limit our mistakes so that we complete high, that’ll take us a long way to securing a win.”
A win this weekend would keep Junee firmly in the race for a top-three finish, with their final two matches coming against the bottom two teams on the ladder.
