Tony Fitzgerald, President of the Poker Run, said, “Everything is going well and everything is in place at the moment for the Poker Run. The weather is supposed to be good.
It is $40 per rider.

“It’s the 20th year and it’s a great achievement to get it to the 20 years. There was a bit of doubt a few years ago if we could keep it running, but we have done very well to get it to the 20 years. It’s a great achievement by all the committee and the members.
“The lunch location is kept a secret and there is a bus available for non riders, who will have the opportunity to draw a car too, just the same as if you were on a bike, but you are in a bus. We have local Straun Timms and Kelvin, Rumbletown, will play, then we have a band from Melbourne, Bill Barbour and the Holding Cell, a Blues band, and then aWagga band Radio Velvet to finish the night off.

“Can Assist will be with us again this year. They have been great every year with all their members to help out. They will be doing lunch and tea. Without them we probably wouldn’t be able to hold the event.”
Fiona Rynehart of Junee Can Assist said, “Things are coming along very well for the Poker Run. We have nearly got it all sorted out. It’s the 20th Anniversary and we have had a lot of nominations for people to come. I think it is going to be bigger than last year and last year we received $28,000.

“This year they have the most amount of sponsors that they have ever had. That is just huge. We have been very blessed to have a lot of people helping out. We will have between 30-50 volunteers on the day helping out for Can Assist.
“We will have breakfast going at 7:00am, lunch at the “unknown” location and dinner at the Showground that night where the Blues band will be performing.

“Jacko, who is one of our board members on Can Assist is going to be the guest speaker. He has been on the board for Can Assist for about 10 years. Raffle ticket sales are going through the roof for the Poker Run. First prize is $1,500 Flight Centre voucher, second prize is $500 fuel or diesel voucher. We will be selling tickets on the Saturday and Saturday night and the prizes will be drawn on the Saturday night.

“In other exciting news, our former President of Can Assist, Natalie Phillips, who is the owner of the Crossing Motel, has now been elected to the Board of Can Assist in Sydney.”
