Junior Diesels in the 2024 season.
Junee Junior Diesels started pre-season training on Thursday which has provided some pleasing progress. Vice-President Mitch Sweeney is optimistic for the new year. He said, “We had a bit of fun, more so it was just an opportunity for the kids to get backdown and kick a football and get back around some of their footy mates and meet some of the coaches.
“It was really just a fun session. We had some sprinklers set up for the kids, a few ice blocks, nothing too intense, more just to reintroduce them to the footy season.

“Things are looking pretty good. We had a lot of kids down there. We actually had two preseason opportunities. We had an opportunity in conjunction with the seniors and that was more targeted on our 14’s to 16’s girls and boys. They have been interacting with the seniors on their training nights which they have really enjoyed. We have had a lot of good feedback from the kids that have been participating in that and that leads into our junior training kicking off where we had around 40 kids there which was great. It’s still early days and we will start to see the normal training routine start to kick off over the next couple of weeks.”
Mitch said that the year is looking good with the committee they have.

“We have a really good committee and from a coaching perspective we will have some announcements on coaches in the next week or so and as part of that we will be specifying some of the age groups where we need some support with some coaching positions.
“I really encourage anyone that is thinking about playing to pop down to training, particularly at the moment on a Thursday night, it’s like a whole club pre-season where we break the kids up into their respective age groups and it’s all about fun, it’s all about the kids getting back around the football and anyone interested in coming down and having a go it will be a great opportunity.”

Coming up on 22nd March, they juniors will have their Come and Try Day from 10:00am in conjunction with the seniors trial game.
“It will be similar to what we did last year with a couple of hour sessions facilitated by the NRL and NRL development officers.

“It’s a really great opportunity for the Club to come together, but it’s also a really good opportunity for anyone who is thinking about playing and it’s a good opportunity for the parents to bring their kids down and it’s really just a couple of hours, a few games and a few skills and for the kids to have fun and it leads into a seniors trial game that afternoon as well, which is similar to what we had last year as well, so we are really looking forward to that.
“Keep an eye on our Facebook page as that will have key date and time changes for the training as we progress over the next few weeks.”
