A report to Junee Shire Council for their Tuesday meeting noted a report on the successful awarding of the 2025-27 Local Government Heritage Grant which Council hope to flow back into the community.
Council has been formally awarded the whopping $25,000 grant under the 2025–27 Local Government Heritage Grants Program administered by Heritage NSW. Council said this funding will support the delivery of a locally administered Heritage Community Grants Program to assist owners of heritage-listed properties identified with conservation works.
The program will run between July 2025 and May 2027. The report they received outlines the successful grant outcome, its linkage to local heritage planning instruments, its strategic alignment with Council’s policy documents and the operational framework for delivery.
Junee Shire Council originally applied to Heritage NSW on 30 January this year with an application that proposed the establishment of a Heritage Community Grants Program offering financial assistance to support the conservation of heritage-listed properties within the area. Under the terms of the grant, only properties listed as heritage items in the Junee Local Environmental Plan (LEP) are eligible to apply for funding.
The LEP serves as the statutory basis for heritage identification and protection within the Junee Shire and will be the primary reference for determining project eligibility.
Council said the $25,000 funding allocation (ex. GST) will be used to prepare program guidelines, promote the grant opportunity, assess submissions against LEP-listed properties and administer funding for eligible conservation projects.
