Australia’s top-performing IGA and Foodland IGA stores were recognised at the 26th IGA National Awards of Excellence, held at The Star Gold Coast on July14, which was attended by Junee IGA.
Junee’s Kim Murdoch and Nina Seton attended for their dedication and work to get the store nominated for Best Dairy and Freezer Department. Romeo’s Foodland IGA Royal Park took home the highest honour of the night, winning both the IGA National Large Store of the Year and IGA National Retailer of the Year awards for 2025. This comes after the store won a State award for their freezer and dairy department twice in a row.
Manager of the shop, Shane Willis, said he was very proud of the team. “I went with the girls, and there were four of us that went up from the store.
“It was held at the Gold Coast Convention Centre and I estimate there would have been 2,500 people there,” he said. “We were all very excited, and we were pumped for the night, but unfortunately, we didn’t come out with the cookies in the end.
“It was a Queensland store that got the honours this year.

“It’s great to be recognised within the nation.”
hane said it’s not just him, but the entire store who were ecstatic for the recognition.
“The store is very proud of what the girls have done over the last two years. They give 110% each week, and to be recognised as state champions, their standard levels and their stock levels are a credit to them.
“We had a lovely time. We got to experience and meet some new retailers and find out new products and how everyone else is trading.
“It’s a good experience. You get a lot of knowledge out of the weekend.
“It’s not just about the awards; it’s going up and looking at new products, getting to meet new suppliers. It enhances what the girls do.”
Junee IGA remains committed to its standard of quality.
