During the school holidays, the Junee Library were thrilled to unveil the newly refurbished children’s space at Junee Library, which they say is a vibrant, welcoming hub designed to ignite young imaginations and inspire a lifelong love of reading.
The new refurbishments include colourful furnishings, cozy reading nooks, inter-active play zones, and a thoughtfully curated collection of books for all ages.
The Library said the new kids’ room is the perfect place for little learners to explore, create, and grow. Whether it’s a baby’s first story-time or a curious young reader on the hunt for their next adventure, the Library said there is something there for every child.
Kylie Heffernan of the Junee Library said “The Kids’ room was a part of our major renovation that we did here at the library. It’s now fully complete with new furniture, a fresh coat of paint, new book shelves, and a beautiful little reading nook where families can snuggle and enjoy a story together. We are really happy. It’s such a beautiful space for families to come and meet new families together and socialise. We host plenty of children’s activities in the children’s room.”
“We have our usual storytime on a Tuesday morning. We have our Baby on a Mat on a Thursday morning, followed by Toddlers on their Toes. It’s just such a lovely, inviting space.”
The Library has received a number of upgrades and renovations over the years, which Kylie said has made the space more open and inviting.
“We’ve opened up the office space and the front counter space, so it’s a lot more inviting. We have beautiful new shelving in the main library, which has opened up more floorspace, allowing us to hold a lot more advanced activities in the library. We have fantastic tables that are on wheels, which has allowed us to create more areas where people can sit and study or work. It has just opened up a great deal more space in the library for people to use. The library has such a beautiful feel, it’s friendly, and so inviting. It’s lovely.
“Our school holiday activities have been fully booked out. We’ve received such a fantastic response with families coming in and just embracing all these wonderful activities that we’ve been able to offer.
“On top of our usual school holiday activities, we also had a fabulous NAIDOC schedule.
“Bring the kids in. There’s a lot to do here in the library. We’ve always got the Lego out, we have the wonderful tablets that the kids can borrow when they’re in the library, set up with games. We’ve got the Play Station 5 set up, and there are lots of books to borrow. We’re also running a competition. So if you join the library in the month of July, you go into the draw to win a prize pack.
“On top of that, we have another competition which is to design a book mark, and it’s open to children and adults. The winning bookmarks for both adults and children will be professionally printed and available in the library for everyone to take and enjoy.
“Get on into the library, it’s warm and cosy in here and the coffee machine is on and there’s lots of fun to be had.”
