The Junee Show in October is still a while away, but the team is already well under way to ensure the event at the Showgrounds is ready for when it rolls around.
The Junee Show is one of the best events in town each year and won 2nd place in the Group 8 Photography competition last year. Who knows what’s in store this time around.
Peter Commens, President of the Junee Show Society, told the Junee Independent that things were going well.
“Everything’s pretty well lined up. We’ve got all our sponsors lined up and we’re in the process of finalising the schedule and putting it together.
“Things are progressing quite well.
“As far as the entertainment and things go, we’ve got the racing ducks back again this year. We’ve got a dog high jump on, which usually is quite fun to watch. There are different sections for different-sized dogs, for working dogs, little dogs and all sorts of dogs. It’ll be on later in the day on Saturday afternoon.
“We brought a donkey section into the show this year. Donkeys will be out there. Once the horses are finished, the donkeys will go out, and they’ll have their little show with the various classes. It’s only something new, but I believe it’s been held at other shows around this area, and it always seems to be quite popular and reasonably well supported. So we thought, well, we’ll put a bit of a section on for them and hopefully they all come and support us.
Peter said the support he has been shown by the town has been very good.
“We’re extremely delighted with the sponsors that we’ve got. We’re very grateful to all of them, because without sponsorship, we wouldn’t be able to run the show that we normally do.
“We can always do with help. That’s our biggest problem: getting enough volunteers to help set the show up. A few extra people always turn up on the day to help us run different events, but putting it together and getting things ready is a big job.
“If people have got a few hours one day, just give me a ring and we can let them know when we have working bees and things are on to set the ground up. “Apart from that, I think everything’s going reasonably well.”
The Junee Show in 2025 is on October 25.
