Christmas on Broadway on November 22 on Broadway Street, Junee, is confirmed to be going on for another year due to community support. Junee can enjoy their Christmas extravaganza for the near future, so why not come down and have some fun with the rest of the town?
Markets, rides and entertainment, Broadway street lights up on the date and provides a family-fun outing for all ages that’s also affordable.
Tony Butt of Junee Business and Trades, and an organiser of the event, spoke to the Junee Independent about how it was going.
“Everything is coming along well for Christmas on Broadway. The tree went up on Friday, and the signage all went out last week. Everything seems to be ticking along alright. We’ve got a lot of new faces on the committee, so that’s promising for next year.
“There are a lot of new people who have been a bit lost as to what’s going to happen. They’re just sitting back and watching and taking it in, and a few people who have got some skills have put their hand up to do a few things. There’s a lot more enthusiasm in the group now than there was, so that’s good.
“The weather is supposed to be really good for the day. Right now it’s predicting 26 degrees and slightly cloudy, so that’s going to be good.
“We’ve got 70-odd stallholders. We’ve got half a dozen food vans. We’ve got Tony Jones Amusements. We’ve got the schools and a couple of different acts for the stage. It’s all coming together really well.
“They’ve got a kid zone and a sand pit and everything else as well.
“When we said this might be the last one because we weren’t getting any help, we got a lot of people coming to us and saying, No, it can’t be the last one, what do you need? How can we help? They’re the ones coming to the meeting to find out how they can help.
“It is going to go ahead again next year. There are enough people to do it, and there are enough people of the older crew stopping by. Shane from IGA is stepping on. There are a few people from the old crew staying on, and then we got a few new faces who’ve got a bit of talent that might be able to come on board and be a bit handy.
“The committee is putting a big effort into making it as good as it can be. All we need is people to come down and appreciate what we’ve done.”
