Junee Shire Council is excited to announce the appointment of Mr Michael Jackson as its new General Manager following an extensive recruitment process.
Mr Jackson brings almost two decades of leadership experience across both Local Government and the private sector to his new role with Junee Shire Council and most recently this includes three years as Director Operations and Planning with Kempsey Shire Council. In addition, Mr Jackson also acted in the role of General Manager for a period of five months whilst Kempsey Shire Council undertook a recruitment process for a new General Manager.
Junee Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Bob Callow said, while it was a highly competitive field, Council was delighted that Mr Jackson was determined as their preferred candidate at an Extraordinary Council meeting held 3 March 2026.
“We’re very pleased to have someone of the calibre of Mr Jackson joining us as General Manager,” said Mayor Callow.
“The depth and breadth of his knowledge and proven leadership skills will be an asset to Junee Shire as we continue to grow and evolve” Cr Callow said.
Upon his recruitment, Mr Jackson said “I am genuinely excited about the prospect of contributing to the continued success of Junee Shire Council and working closely with the team, the Councillors and the community to help shape a strong and sustainable future for our Shire and I am very much looking forward to relocating to Junee towards the end of April”.
Mr Jackson will commence in the role on 28 April 2026 under a five-year Performance Based Contract.
