On Wednesday 25th, the Junee Ex-Services Club awarded the Junee Scouts a donation after the Scouts put out a call for support.
The $500 donation will assist with the renovation of their kitchen.
The Ex-Services Club stated the scouts play a crucial role in developing skills, confidence, and friendships among young people in the community, and say they are delighted to contribute to a space that will support their activities for years to come.
Kiri Clemson, Scout Leader for Junee Scouts, said this was a massive help.
“We desperately need a new kitchen for our Hall because it’s all falling apart. We reached out, and initially they offered $300,” she said.
One of the Ex-Services board members was originally a scout, and Kiri said it was this upbringing that caused them to donate more.
“It’s come back to us after they’ve had a board meeting. The Club said, no, we’re going to offer you $500,” she said.
“They sent us an email asking us to come down with some of our Cubs and Scouts. They said that they wanted to present it and take a photo on that with us.
“What we had originally done was email them ourselves, asking for donations. We reached out for donations in different places in the community, trying to raise some funds for the new kitchen, and they said, we’re willing to give you this.
“We thought that was fantastic. We do have big plans for next term.
We’ve got a couple of camps that the Vinnies and Scouts are going to do. The Cubs will have one of their camps as well. We are trying to do more regional things. Our activities coordinator for the area is trying to organise more group activities for everybody within the region. There are a few different things coming out, but we’re not exactly sure. We haven’t fine-tuned any of them yet.
“We’ve always got opportunities for more children to come to the Clubs.
We’re looking at maybe closing the Cubs, but we do have 12 and up available. We have such a massive group with the Cubs at the moment. It just keeps growing and growing, so be quick. Reach out to any one of the leaders, and we’ll be able to steer them all in the right direction if they do want to come and join to see what it’s like.

It will go a long way in not just helping us teach the kids how to cook, but also giving them safe utilities and a safe area to use because the stove isn’t the greatest, we are looking towards the future knowing that there’s going to be a safe facility for the children and other people to come through to use it as well.”
