The Junee Diesels and the Gungahlin Bulls faced off in a trial game on Saturday, 28 March, at Laurie Daley Oval, their final game before the season starts.
All grades had a chance to play, giving Junee a full day of footy.
President of the Junee Diesels, David Holt, said it was a great day for the community.
“It was a great day. The weather was good, and we had a good crowd,” he said.
“The Diesels are looking good for the season. Gungahlin is a strong side. It was a great sign that our team performed well against such dominant opposition in the Canberra competition.”
Numbers, David said, looked good for the game. On home turf with high registrations across the board, the season looks like it’ll be a cracker.
“We wanted to get the season kick-started and get things moving. That’s what a trial match is all about,” he said.
“We had good support from our local community, that’s for sure. It’s great to see. It’s something we’ve worked to build within our local community, and it’s good to see that.
“We’ve got a bit of a break until the start of the season, but the other thing that is coming up, we’ve got a bit of a season launch on the 11th of April.
“Other than that, we’re into the season and hopefully hit the ground running.”
