The Junee Library is now stocking Junee merchandise to wear around, including caps and stubby holders.
This is part of Council’s vision to make Junee Library a tip-top Visitor Information Centre, perfect for locals who love showing a little hometown pride, visitors wanting something to remember their trip by, or anyone chasing a gift with a genuine Junee connection.
Sam Perry of Junee Shire Council said that this was a smooth and easy process.
“The merchandise selling has been a bit of work in the making. We’ve had the Visitor Information Centre at the Library now for a couple of years or so, and it was one of the main things that we were missing, a bit of an identification piece for the town when tourists were to come in,” he said.
“The whole idea was to get some gear in. We got some caps, stubby holders, magnets, and bumper stickers. Just a few of the basic merchandise items to really show off the town and get us on the map.
“The sales have been unbelievable. We’ve only advertised a little bit on social media. The majority of the tourists that would come in are really interested in the products, and when we did put that social media post up, we had some guys in town also come in and grab some stuff to send off to their relatives and that kind of stuff. It’s been awesome.
“Fingers crossed, we can get a few more products in and can really see some sales go through the roof.
“We have got some keyrings on the way; they just haven’t arrived yet. Those key rings will show off a few of the main attractions in town and complement some of the history in town as well. We’re excited to get those in.
“We did a bit of internal designing, which was good. The company we went through also did some design work for us as well. The design work was done in-house and also by the designer.”
Council has been busy this time of the year, kicking off week 2 of school holidays.
“The numbers have been great. We had roughly 100 people at the disco, which was the first event.
All the library events have been booked out. We are really happy with our results.
“It’s a really important part of the community. Over the last few years, we’ve really built on it and provided great opportunities for the kids in town and families. It is one of our main goals to keep a school holiday program going and really important for the community. That’s something we’re quite proud of.”
