The Rotary Club of Junee’s changeover, on Sunday past saw the induction of two new members, John Bell and David Hilliard.
Past District Governor John Egan was delighted to induct two new members into the club. In his welcoming outline he acknowledged both of these people will bring a sound community service aspect within the club. However, the Past District Governor had another important duty to perform and that was the bestowing of Rotary member and community minded person, Bernard Hart, as a Paul Harris Fellow. This is the highest form of recognition a Rotary Club can bestow and it is presented to a Rotarian, or a member of the community, who has made an outstanding contribution to the community.
In Bernard’s case he has not only contributed to the local community but also internationally supporting a RAWCS program in Nepal to provide training to the people of the remote community of Maidi in teaching, building and health. In his response Bernard said the community is now almost self reliant in its farming thanks to the support of the women there.
In his report President John Higginson spoke about how the club had been involved in events in the community for the purpose of fundraising and/or community service and had been involved in a number of projects including supporting a student in the Indigenious Health Scholoarship.
Incoming President Neil McKenzie was inaugurated by District Governor Judy Ford, who removed the collar from John and placed it on Neil. Neil said a few words in response and then he presented to the audience of members, partners and guests his Board for the incoming year 2026-2027.
