The 2026 NSW Nationals Annual General Conference was held in Albury on Friday 12 and Saturday 13 June 2026 at the SS&A Club, where Junee Councillor Pam Halliburton was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation. This was given for her years of work with the party.
The Annual Conference invites people from across NSW to discuss key issues, contribute to policy, and help shape the party’s direction ahead of the 2027–28 elections.
Each year, party members from across the State gather to discuss and debate policy motions that are put forward by the members themselves. These motions, if carried, go on to influence party policy at a State and Federal level. The Nationals say this model ensures the voice of rural and regional NSW is heard in Parliament.
The Nationals have a convention every year, as major parties tend to; the Labor Party has just had one recently as well.
Councillor Halliburton was very shocked to receive the award, having no idea it was coming on the night.
“It was a very big surprise, and I felt very humbled,” she said.
“I have been a National Party supporter all my life. Since I started working, I’ve organised polling booths in towns wherever I’ve lived.”
“I am also the treasurer of the Cootamundra State Electoral Council, which represents Steph Cooke, and I’m Secretary of the Riverina Federal Electorate Council, which is the one concerning Michael McCormack’s Riverina Electorate.
“I think that the National Party has definitely become a stronger party in terms of its beliefs and its support of the people in regional areas, and that is one of the great strengths that it is looking to the future.
“It is supporting a lot of people in regional and rural communities.”
Pam says she felt overwhelmed with joy when receiving the award.
“I was overwhelmed with the award, with the fact that people had thought enough of me, of what I’ve been doing for the National Party over the last 50 years to award this to me. It was a very big honour.
“I firmly believe in the National Party, as it is for the rural people of Australia.”
