Preparations for the 81st Riverina Schoolboys Football Carnival are well in hand with145 teams looking forward to another great day of junior rugby league in Junee. Grounds have been well presented by Junee Shire Council staff with committee members and NSW Corrective Services personnel, adding the final touches with ground marking and goal posts being installed. Wiradjuri Rabs and Jason Ferrario will also be ground announcing on the day.
Catering again this year will be provided by Junee Diesels, Junee Junior Rugby League, Junee Soccer Club, Can Assist, Junee Lions Club and Junee RSL Sub-Branch. Coffee vans will be on each ground for those who enjoy a nice coffee or hot chocolate.
Some of the players commit to also officiate by refereeing at the carnival and are mentored by members of the Junior Referee’s Association. National Rugby League representatives also support the carnival, with Tim Bailey, NRL Referee Development Officer, organising our referees with the assistance of Pat Walsh and Wayne Prosser. The experience on the day for the young referees is vital for them to continue in this field. The NRL Code of Conduct is to be abided by coaching staff and community members watching all games.
New South Wales Rugby League has provided strong support to the committee during the organisation of the carnival and will have seven members present again on the day to ensure another smoothly run carnival occurs. Cody Hodge and Sam Bramich have both provided time and thought into the draw, aiding Secretary, Maree Allamby when required.
The carnival is once again well supported by Junee community members and businesses with sponsorship, raffle donations, selling of raffle tickets and belief in the continuation of the carnival.
