By Day Three of Samantha (Sam) Longmore’s Big Wheel: Push for Purpose, she was beyond exhausted.
Fighting an injury and some nasty weather, she was faced with the very real possibility on the morning of Day Four that she may not be able to make it across the finish line.
“There was fear a couple of times after that I wasn’t going to be able to tackle the hills that were in front of me, but I was never not going to have a crack,” says Sam.

Never would she have expected to have received a new friend from Junee to travel alongside her in support, encouragement and challenge.
Kyle Lawson, a Junee local may have been Sam’s knight in shining armour after he rode down to her in the early hours of the morning to escort her to his town.

Together, they battled heavy rain, wild winds and steep hills.
“He did that off his own back,” says Sam.
“He just wanted to be a part of it for no other reason other than the fact that he felt he needed to be there, and it’s been really beautiful that people can see others need support and join.
“That should be a message within itself.”
More of Sam’s story can be found in this week’s edition of The Yass Valley Times or Yass Valley Times website.
