Marrar will be playing for a place in the Grand Final where they will be hoping to join the A Grade net ballers after downing Temora in convincing fashion 11.10.76 to 4.8.32.
Sam Turner of Marrar said, “We had a really strong performance against Temora. The guys came out pretty much from the get go and dominated the majority of the game, which was good. And then we were fortunate enough to have a really strong lead at three quarter time, we had the luxury of bringing off a few players who were carrying a little bit of an injury as such with an eye towards the next week.”
“It was good to get a win over Temora, they won the premiership last year. To beat the reigning premiers who finished higher on the ladder and they gave us a really good touch up in round one.”
“The guys are playing really good footy at the moment. We’ve had a bit of a lull in the middle of the year, where we had a lot of injuries, the bounce of the ball wasn’t going our way, but we are really sort of finding form at the right time of year, which is good.
Marrar will take on the CSU Bushpigs.
“We played them probably, three weeks and lost 88-64 and we had a lot of injuries at the time and they beat us by two or three goals then, we watched them on the weekend, they’re a good team. They’ve got some really handy players. Their midfield is really dominant. They’ve got a very dominant Ruckman. We will go in confident, we are playing really good football and we’ve got the belief that we could on our day beat anybody.”
“It will be a really hard game for sure.”
For spectators, it’ll be pretty interesting and it could be quite close.
“The winner of that game will go on and play East Wagga, who is a pretty formidable opponent. They haven’t lost a game this year, but, anything can happen in a grand final.”
“Stand out players on the weekend: Macauley Armstrong had a really strong game. Cameron Walshe, he’s our young ruckman, he had a good game.”
“The most pleasing part about the weekend was probably that our top tier players probably didn’t have their best games and we still came away with it. It was probably our younger players who really stepped up and had really good games, which is probably what got us over the line.
“We’ve got a very young team. We’ve got a lot of very young and inexperienced players, who are just finding their way in the top grade. So a player that’s got more experience you class them in the top tier.
“Our coach Zac Brain played very well on the weekend, he had an absolute blinder of a game. You hold him to a different standard than everybody else. He’s the coach. He’s there to lead by example, which he absolutely did. He came out and had an absolute blinder of a game.”
“We’ve got a couple of other guys who have sort of carried us in other games throughout the year who didn’t necessarily have to do it on the weekend, which was very pleasing.
“Our A grade netballers won on the weekend, so they are straight through to the grand final.
The grand final is on 5th September. The Bombers will be hoping to clinch the win against CSU with the game starting 2:15pm Saturday 29th of August at Robertson Oval.
