Athenium Announce Jaw-Dropping Carl Barron Show

Just when you thought Junee’s Athenium Theatre has hit the peak of its huge return since Covid, Carl Barron, Aussie humour legend, has announced a show on May 6th.

Carl Barron is one of Australia’s most beloved comedians and is bringing his trademark wry, observational comedy to the bush so all can experience the comedy champion.

At the time of writing, it has been a little over an hour since the show was announced and already over 100 tickets have been sold which has made organiser Sam Perry glad that people are already excited for the big night.

“It’s a great reward to get someone of his calibre in, not only performing at the Athenium, but hopefully promoting it. Fingers crossed this is only a part of something very special for the future of the Athenium,” he said.

“It started from the back of the Multicultural Comedy Festival that we had, that was quite successful and great entertainment. A-List Entertainment thought it went well and thankfully, they offered Carl to us and fingers crossed the community can get around it. I hope we can get more performers like this coming back here in the future.”

The Multicultural Comedy Gala took place back on March 4 and featured an array of diverse performers such as the Turkish Tahir, Ireland’s Fiona O’Loughlin and the Aboriginal Aussie Dane Simpson.

“That’s the goal with the Athenium, there is a wealth of history there and it’s a perfect opportunity to try and utilise it as much as we can. The community groups and all the community events we put on really showcases the venue.

“Who isn’t a fan of Carl Barron? He’s hilarious and as with most comedians, they come full of confidence and they make the whole audience laugh and I’m quite confident that he will do that.”

Carl Barron has had a decorated career since his beginning in the scene, winning Comic of the Year and Best Up and Coming Talent in 1993, Carl has established himself as one of the most accomplished comedy performers in Australia and around the world.

He has played shows in New York, L.A, London, South Africa, Auckland, Ireland, Singapore, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Edinburgh and soon, Junee.

Carl has over 50 TV spots to his credit. He now has his first DVD release ‘Carl Barron Live’ as the country’s highest selling stand-up comedy DVD in Australian retail history. His second show ‘Whatever Comes Next’ won Best International Show at the N.Z. Comedy Festival which was then released on DVD entering the Charts at number one, staying there for over 12 months and then being nominated for an ARIA award.

If you can name a venue or comedy festival, you can bet Carl has headlined it.

“Tickets are going quick and you can find where to get them on social media and posters are displayed around Junee. You can scan a QR code or follow the link and make sure you get a ticket because you don’t want to miss out.

“It should sell out pretty quickly.”

The Independent are proud to be the first outlet to announce this to the Junee Community.
